Buddhist Meditations on DEATH!

Contemplation on Death and the impermanence of life are very important in Buddhism. By recognising how precious and how short life is, it allows us to value the here and now even more and make the most of our life. Death is inevitable, yet when someone we know dies more often than not, we are surprised. As spiritual beings having a human experience, we know our spirit is immortal, but our physical body is not. this is one of the reasons why, most of us don't have a real sense of our death..it seems a long long long way off. When we will die none of us can be sure, it could be today, tomorrow, next year, the year after or 60 years from now, none of us know.
In common with the Buddhist tradition, a lot of  modern cognitive psychology and behavioural sciences, the underlying message is to live in the now and enjoy the present. To be in control of your thoughts and focus on the moment, looking at what you do have and paying attention and nourishing it, instead of letting your mind become distracted with "things", that are not important in the long run, such as the negative emotions of anger, guilt, hurt, fear, or our reputation or focussing on the acquiring of more and more material possessions.
